SHADED Teams up with Desert Hearts for latest EP, “Gucci Baggy”

SHADED Teams up with Desert Hearts for latest EP, “Gucci Baggy”

After playing at a couple of Desert Hearts events, it only made sense to officially embrace SHADED into the Desert Hearts family by signing him to the label. The artist’s debut EP on the label, “Gucci Baggy” fits right in with the brand and promises great things in the future.

The opening track, Gucci Baggy, captivates the mind with lyrics that will bring out the listener’s expensive taste: everyone can have a Gucci bag on the dance floor with them for this track. The track boasts retro-inspired synths and a buzzing bassline that trickles into the next track. The second song, titled Trounce, feels a bit quirkier than the first with unusual sounding bubbling synths that maintain a retro sound but edges into the future.

The entire EP is playful and deeply rooted in the Desert Hearts house music genre, which makes us excited for what’s to come from this partnership. Give it a listen!

Day Club Returns for Coachella 2019 Weekends

Poolside at Hilton Hotel Palm Springs April 12-14 & April 19-21

By way of A-list DJ’s and intimate poolside venues, Day Club has cemented itself as a key supplement to the Coachella experience. This year, Day Club is offering up main-stage talent throughout both festival weekends at the Hilton Hotel in Palm Springs.

Weekend one kicks off with South African Swiss producer Nora En Pure and her organic and experimental deep house sound. Saturday will feature Australian indie-dance trio RÜFÜS DU SOL, coming in hot off a headlining Coachella set the day before. On Sunday, LA’s Sound Nightclub closes out the weekend with a curated lineup of underground dance acts.

A Mad Decent takeover dominates weekend two. Diplo gets the party started on Friday before handing off to label-mate and trap-house revolutionary Dillon Francis on Saturday, featuring a smattering of additional Mad Decent talent throughout. Day Club festivities wrap up on Sunday with a set from rising future house DJ Jauz, with support from others on the Bite Me label.

Gettoblaster and DJ Funk team up for DIRTYBIRD Release

Gettoblaster and DJ Funk team up for DIRTYBIRD Release

Gettoblaster stepped on the scene in 2014 and has been a force in producing house music ever since. This duo, hailing from Chicago and Detroit, has a distinct style while staying deeply rooted in preserving house and techno music. DJ Funk is no stranger to successful production, either, pioneering the ghetto-house scene since the 1990s and making a name for himself early in his career around the midwest.

The artists’ most recent release on DIRTYBIRD Records stays true to a Gettoblaster sound: it’s not for the faint of heart. The track, titled “Get Dat,” features crisp percussions and a robust bass-line. The song is provocative, and depending on where your mind is, you wouldn’t expect what “dat” is that we’re actually getting. Just as original house music calls for, the song’s dirty beat is relentlessly unapologetic and sexual in nature. The repetitive words are a house music staple, and the track is a DIRTYBIRD banger. The dance floor will be shaking and booties will be percolating, so crank dat “Get Dat,” fam.

Desert Hearts Releases Family & Friends Volume 3

Desert Hearts Releases Family & Friends Volume 3

The Family & Friends series from Desert Hearts Records is an ode to what the Desert Hearts crew does best: house, techno, deep house, and tech-house. Riddled with label stalwarts old and new, this collection of songs samples exactly what you’d hear at a Desert Hearts party.

The third installment of the Family & Friends series is comprised of 19 tracks that represent every shade of Desert Hearts. With artists Andrea Henneberg, Sacha Robotti, Cut Snake, NiQW, Sydney Blu, Rich Pinder, and many more, there is no shortage of fresh tracks on the collection.

The opener is a song from Andrea Henneberg, aptly titled “Desert Hearts.” It begins with a robotic voice repeating, “Desert Hearts,” which then proclaims, “Let’s rock that shit.” It’s a fun start to this third volume and sets the listener up for the rest of the collection, in which, of course, the artists are rocking that shit. Crank the volume and enjoy.

New EP Release on Desert Hearts featuring Matt Tolfrey and Lee Curtiss

New EP Release on Desert Hearts featuring Matt Tolfrey and Lee Curtiss

Desert Hearts Records has released a new EP that is guaranteed to keep us dancing well into the New Year. Suprised? Neither are we. With Matt Tolfrey and Lee Curtiss to thank, The EP, aptly named For Your Mind, maintains the staple Desert Hearts house beat we know and love. Who Said That, the EP opener, serves steady percussion and inlays of soft vocals and differing samples throughout. The EP finisher is a bubbly house track and mimics the style of vocals present in the opener. A classic Desert Hearts release, For Your Mind is the perfect reminder for why we love house music.

Both Curtiss and Tolfrey are heavy hitters when it comes to experience. Curtiss is known for his ability to add diversity from different eras into his tracks, while Tolfrey’s success as a DJ has led him to be the owner of his own label, Leftroom. Both artists has a knack for enticing us to the dance floor, and this collaboration will find us hard-pressed to ever leave.

I love it when my friends make dope music. I don’t even remember what year I met Morgan. We were on the streets of San Francisco after a show at Vessel and she was looking for a place to buy cigs with her friend. That area of downtown isn’t the best for two young ladies to be walking around so of course I had to step in and escort them to a 711 where we got to talking about music and life and travel and then that was it. They were gone and I didn’t think I’d hear from them again.

Luckily we have the internet and somehow I found Morgan on Facebook and we have loosely stayed in touch ever since. Since then, Morgan has become quite the producer and just the other day she released her very first ep entitled “The Queens” on Sunday Money Music. Morgan also manages the label and I am just blown away by the quality of these tracks. I knew she would be great at whatever she ended up doing after that first meeting but the vibes she is creating now with her music fit perfectly with that after hours / underground world that I have come to love and appreciate so much throughout my career in the music industry.

Morgan I am so proud of you and even though we haven’t talked in a while, I have always cherished that connection we made and I look forward to watching you grow with your music. Keep it up babe!
